The liposomal alpha acid is a sulfur compound and represents one of the most powerful antioxidants in nature. It has the ability to neutralize free radicals by reducing damage of oxidative stress and protecting the heart tissue, brain, and nerves from oxidative damage.

The R-alpha lipoic Acid because of this powerful antioxidant properties has the ability to protect other antioxidant molecules from oxidation (eg, vitamins C and E) thereby enhancing their action.
