The main function of the Type IIR surgical mask is to block particles from breathing, speaking, sneezing and coughing so that the person wearing it does not transmit them, so its use is mainly for healthcare professionals in operating rooms, clinics and hospitals. In addition, the letter 'R' indicates that the mask also has protection against liquid splashes (e.g. saliva, blood). It has a protection rating of 98% and protects to a higher degree than fabric masks.
