Description
Mannose is a simple carbohydrate found in fruit in small quantities. It is still produced naturally by the human body but in small amounts.
This polysaccharide is poorly absorbed by the body as it is not metabolized into glycogen. So, it is not stored by the body either.
Mannose is absorbed in less than 30 minutes in peripheral organs. It then passes through the urinary tract where it is excreted.
Mannose has been found to have a protective effect on the urinary tract against infections and chronic inflammation (urinary tract infection, cystitis) caused by coliform bacteria such as E. Coli.
E. Coli is the main cause of about 90% of urinary tract infections. Coliform bacteria tend to stick to the inner walls of the bladder (epithelium). They then multiply and cause a urinary tract infection or cystitis.
D-Mannose passes through the kidneys and the ureter. It attaches to the lectins which are found in the cell walls of the coliform bacteria.
Thus, a protective membrane is created which prevents the adhesion of coliform bacteria and other pathogenic microorganisms to the walls of the bladder where the epithelial cells are located.
Mannose has a different effect from antibiotics. It does not kill the coliform bacteria that cause urinary tract infections. It helps in their normal removal.
Coliforms are excreted in the urine. So, mannose prevents local inflammation while reducing unpleasant symptoms.

Use Instructions
