Dry eye is due to the production of very little tear fluid or when tears have a wrong composition. The disease may be accompanied by symptoms such as strong reddening of the eyes and permanent, painful sensation of foreign body.

Eye drops should guarantee intensive and steady wetting of the ocular surface for the treatment of severe and chronic dry eye conditions. Only high viscosity eye drops, which remain a considerable amount of time on the ocular surface, can contribute to a permanent eye moisture effect.
