The endogenous hormone melatonin is produced in the brain’s pineal gland (epiphysis). Darkness stimulates the secretion of melatonin. As melatonin also controls sleep, it is also termed a „sleep hormone“.* If the circadian rhythm is disrupted by, for example, jet lag, an additional intake of melatonin can be useful.**
*Melatonin contributes to the reduction of time taken to fall asleep. The beneficial effect is obtained by consuming 1 mg of melatonin close to bedtime.
**Melatonin contributes to the alleviation of subjective feelings of jet lag. The beneficial effect is obtained with a minimum intake of 0,5 mg to be taken close to bedtime on the first day of travel and on the following few days after arrival at the destination.
Recommended dosage
Take 2-3 spray puffs per day directly into the mouth approx. 30 minutes before going to bed.
